Jennie Logan Purtell
SVP, Group Account Director
Jennie Logan Purtell
SVP, Group Account Director
As Jennie can attest, every good career in marketing starts in commercial real estate. It’s only logical. Jennie cut her teeth in the real world managing over 3 million square feet of office space at a commercial real estate company before joining Frankel & Co. as an Assistant Account Executive on the McDonald’s business. As
Frankel became Arc, Jennie continued her tenure working on new product introductions for McDonald’s, the Herbal Essences shopper marketing business on the P&G team and the Miller Lite promotions work on the Miller/Coors team. Jennie also served in a cross-agency function as the Director of Pitch Management on the New Business team across both Arc Worldwide and Leo Burnett.
Upon joining Trisect in 2009, Jennie began to lead the Kimberly-Clark business and worked with that team to grow the business from project based to an AOR relationship across three brands. Jennie maintains that role today and runs all aspects of the Kimberly-Clark business. In addition, Jennie is responsible for the agency’s Business Development function and leads the team that manages all new business, agency growth and MarCom efforts.
Jennie holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. A loyal Maryland native, Jennie and her husband are teaching their son the finer points of the Midwest, while never forgetting those East Coast roots.

Jeremy Van Ek
EVP, Finance & Operations
You might think an educational background in philosophy ill-suited for a career in agency finance and operations, but Jeremy will argue otherwise. What better preparation for keeping the agency running efficiently and profitably than a few years spent studying critical thinking and problem solving?
After finishing a Masters thesis on modern physics and free will, Jeremy went into the ranks as a Financial Coordinator at Frankel, working his way up to VP Client Finance at Arc Worldwide. Next was a stint at Edelman, as a key player in driving better process, reporting, and financial management through a global business process re-engineering. At Trisect, he is responsible for overseeing the finance, accounting, IT, and operations functions.
Outside of work, Jeremy is a proud father of three boys, and actively involved in scouts and coaching sports. On his own time, he's an avid adventure racer, having
completed 20+ multisport races from six hours to three days in length.

Chief Strategy Officer
Kevin Gilbert
Chief Strategy Officer
Kevin spent the first 29 years of life avoiding the “real world” – working a variety of eclectic jobs (munitions ordinance specialist, night porter, visiting lecturer, psychiatric technician, research drone) between bouts of academic life. Eventually, haunted by student loan creditors, he finally settled on an actual career: strategy and insights in advertising and marketing.
Starting in research at Leo Burnett, Kevin eventually moved to planning, while passing through LBWorks and Arc Worldwide – working on and leading brand, promotional, digital, and retail strategy for brands such as Delta Airlines, Hallmark, Earthlink and McDonald’s. Along the way, “Dr. Gilbert” managed to accumulate an alphabet soup of degrees that sometimes confuses even him – a BS in Radio/TV/Film & Psychology from ISU, an MS in I/O Psychology from Purdue, and finally, his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Loyola. Personally, he enjoys motorcycles, poker and travelling to exotic locales with his wife, Rachel. -

Mel Routhier
VP, Group Creative Director
Mel Routhier
VP, Group Creative Director
Mel found her way to Chicago via Texas, Germany, Alabama, Kansas, Tennessee and Kentucky. The product of a military family, she passed through Austin just long enough to pick up a B.S. in Advertising, a love of Tex-Mex and a strong point of view that pale, freckled people like herself aren’t meant to live in a state with 105-degree temperatures.
Before arriving at Trisect, Mel was a VP, Associate Creative Director at Leo Burnett where she spent 11+ years honing her skills as a copywriter on a vast array of accounts, including Disney, Hallmark, Starbucks, the U.S. Army, PM, Kellogg’s and P+G.
Now, as VP, Group Creative Director, she leverages her deep well of consumer packaged-goods experience to oversee the creative output of our Kimberly-Clark business, including the Scott, Cottonelle and Viva brands.
When not talking toilet paper and paper towels, Mel’s usually talking food. She cooks up a competition-winning chili, a mean cherry pie and in her next life, owns a bakery.
On a side note, she'd like to point out that not all military brats are real brats. -

Michelle was born on a warm, August night during the Perseids meteor shower. In her adult life, she still enjoys stargazing with Orion being her favorite constellation to find, followed by the Seven Sisters. She learned to navigate the sky growing up in rural Michigan where time was known to stand still and summer never seemed to end.
Michelle decided to trade in starry nights for city lights and began her career in Marketing and Advertising with an internship at MTV Networks in New York City. She then moved to Chicago (a little closer to home) and joined Leo Burnett where she worked on accounts such as Samsung, Kellogg’s, and McDonald’s. Eight years later, Michelle decided to move across town to Chicago’s West Loop where she joined Trisect.
Michelle holds a B.A. in Communications from Michigan State University and an MA in Organizational Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. -

Paul Kuzma
Chief Idea Officer
If it has a surface, Paul will write on it. Over the past 15 years in marketing and advertising, he’s put his warped sense of language on everything from Old Style Beer to Kawasaki Motorcycles to McDonald’s Happy Meals to breathing new life into the original Cracker Jack prize. Inventing lyrical twists and turns along the way, he’s responsible for creating award-winning campaigns for global, blue chip clients as well as local Chicago non-profits.

Scott Melton
Group Design Director
Born in Southern California and raised in Colorado, Scott comes to Trisect from Albuquerque, Atlanta, Boulder, Cheyenne, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Loveland, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, St. Louis (and a brief stay in the U.K.), in mostly alphabetical order. From a very young age, Scott not only drew a lot, but to the fascination of his parents drew odd things such as letters, logos and symbols, cementing his career path as a graphic designer and lover of all things typographic early on.
For 20 years he’s been executing retail, sales promotion and advertising design for the likes of Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, Coors Brewing Co., Gatorade, McDonald’s, Miller Brewing and Upper Deck, among others.
When he’s not helping transform business into art, Scott can be found reading, working on personal projects, in a museum, at the movies, listening to music or riding something with two wheels – occasionally much too fast. -

Tyler Jay
EVP, Director of Content Production
Tyler Jay was born on a full moon night in the high desert of Santa Fe, New Mexico. His time at the University of Arizona left him sharp as a cactus needle and eager to take on the film business in LA. His work on the sets of several feature films including “Spiderman,” “Matrix 2,” and “Zoolander” opened the door for his transition to working as a commercial director and producer for brands such as Australian Tourism, Gap and New Balance. A lady friend (now his wife) eventually convinced Tyler to relocate to Chicago where he became an agency producer at Leo Burnett and later a senior producer at DraftFCB. Some of this work includes overseeing the creative, execution and completion of 22 bid films for the Chicago Olympic 2016 Bid Committee. Tyler joined Trisect after working as an Executive Producer for Dictionary Films.
Tyler is incredibly proud of the great work we get to execute here at Trisect. The agency has produced many broadcast spots, web videos, and print ads for many of its clients including Cottonelle, DeVry, Scott Naturals, and Viva featuring Mike Rowe. -
